We explore and try to expand upon Chanel's interest, and like most toddlers she loves gardening. There is always a new learning opportunity for her with her Grandmother who engages her always in interesting and new gardening concepts, or at home with us introducing new ideas to our garden .
May was the right time for Chanel to learn to sow tomatoes and beetroot, and every day in the morning as part of our practical activities she watered, admired and cared for her plants. This weekend the sun was shining and I saw her smile of satisfaction as she harvested her first crops including strawberries, tomatoes and beetroot. She surprised me with a straw basket full of them. (Half were eaten as they were picked) .
By simply being part of this process, Chanel understands the responsibility of taking care of a live environment. She has a garden of her own. I think it can be done even in one pot on a balcony or windowsill.
We are excited to see her next harvest as pumpkins and still more tomatoes are to come. Tomatoes grown in the garden are richly flavoured, and a free organic luxury harvested in our own home.

I am looking for interesting gardening kits to introduce Chanel to new gardening activities. An inspiring garden centre. We are also aiming to go and pick the last of the blackberries this season. If you grow something interesting and challenging in your garden let us know!
